Wednesday, May 28, 2008 Pagadian upsets MisOr, 78-75, in Liga games
MARK Yee scored 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and Arian Daja added nine of his 19 to lead the Pagadian Explorers to a stunning 78-75 come-from-behind upset victory over the Misamis Oriental Meteors in the semifinal game of the Liga Pilipinas Cebu Pre-Season tournament held Monday evening at the Cebu Coliseum.
Pagadian’s win moved them across the early favorite Cebu Niños, which won the other finals slot after handing the erratic Zamboanga Amores with a 97-73 beating in the main game.
The Meteors were leading all the way until the final one minute and 30 seconds of the game when Daja scored an undergoal stab that gave the Explorers its first taste of the lead, 71-70, for good.
Alano Caputolan sank an unexpected triple for MisOr at the 11-second mark to move the Meteors within 75-77, but Yee’s split charity at the other end and the tough defense of the Explorers at the backcourt gave them the chance to play for the pre-season title that was played as of press time last night.
