ACT faces Jaguars in MLKP caging

THE red-hot Asian College of Technology (ACT) Cyber Knights will gun for their fourth straight win as they play the second-ranked University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in the main game of 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Summer Basketball Challenge at the Cebu Coliseum today.

Carrying a 3-0 win-loss slate, the Knights drew huge performance from the unstoppable duo of Joel Vistal and Dondon Nuñez who were the reasons why the Tata Merced-mentored ACT is on the top of the six-team field.

Vistal scored an average 25.67 points in three games to become the tournament’s top scoring threat, while Nuñez normed 23.0 points per game.

Their combined production helped the Cyber Knights to a league’s best 91.33 points per game.

Defensively, the Jaguars of coach Edito Salacot were better as they only allowed their opponents to score an average 80.0 points per game against the 85.0 points conceded by the Cyber Knights.

The Jaguars, however, has proven to grow even hungrier after losing their opening game. USJ-R nipped Don Bosco Greywolves 98-79 and they scored an 84-78 victory over the Southwestern Cobras last Sunday.

In the opening game, the University of San Carlos Warriors will gun for a share of second place against the Greywolves starting at 4:30.

The Warriors and the Jaguars were tied with 2-1 cards, while the Greywolves are 1-2. (RCM)
