Mandaue beats RC Goldline

THE Mandaue Jaycees defeated RC Goldline-Alcatel of Christian Paroan, 60-48, Tuesday night for its second straight win in the ongoing action of the Jaycees Basketball Association President’s Cup-2008 at the City Sports Club.

RC Goldline’s Dave Lim’s buzzer-beating triple tied the count at 15 at the end of the opening period, but Mandaue Jaycees took a slim 23-22 lead at the bend and stretched it to a commanding 43-31 advantage going into the final canto and never looked back to for their easy victory.

Nestor Patindol and Richie Garcia spearheaded Mandaue JCI with 16 and 15 points, respectively, while the team also drew a combined 19 points from Edgar Colina and Ed Latonio.

Small forward Dennis Que and Dave Lim paced the undermanned RC Goldline, which dropped to a 1-1 card, with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
In the other game, Versacool nipped Landview Property, 66-64, for its first win in two outings.

Versacool enjoyed a slim 33-31 lead at the end of the first half, but Landview waxed hot in the final half and engaged a neck-to-neck battle until they overcame a 50-48 count going into the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Benedict Chua came into the rescue with a driving lay-up to take the last deadlock at 64 and a heroic short layup by Edmund Odullo in the final seven seconds saved the victory for Versacool.

Edmund Odullo and Jeremy Huang powered Versacool with a game-high 22 and 15 points, respectively, which also drew huge support from Benedict Chua with double figures.

Mark Hing scored 17 points to lead Landview, while Raymund Gollon and Dominic Hing combined for 27 points in a losing offense. (PR)
