Dharl Pitogo, who won a silver medal in the high hurdles of the Palarong Pambansa was able to snag a bronze medal in the 110-meter hurdles yesterday clocking in 15.63 seconds.
Curiosly, Pitogo lost to Jose Renator Unso, the athlete who also defeated him in the Palaro high hurdles, while John Rey Vicente of de La Salle Universtiy-College of St. Benilde took second place.
Bannering TMS Ship Agencies, Unso, who created waves during the Palaro for being hailed a potential big name in the sport, registered a new RP junior record of 15.25, breaking a 1994 record made during the 1994 Fujian Games.
Silver
Meanwhile, Angela Siocon salvaged a silver medal in the women’s long jump competition, finishing second to TMS’ Luville Dato-on. Siocon’s best jump was 5.22, the same as that of eventual third placer Annie Albania of TMS. She however, took the silver for having the better average in all her jumps.

In the Girls 3,000 meter run, Vlessica Jagna pulled off a second place finish after clocking in 11 minutes, 26.52 seconds. She placed second to Occidental Mindoro’s Jessa Aguilar who had a time of 11:17.31, while Tuguegarao’s Jenelyn Sudilla was at third with a time of 11.31.87.
TCC is made up mostly of track athletes of University of Cebu. There are more chances for TCC to win a gold medal today as four athletes qualified for the final rounds in different divisions.
Leading the Cebuanos’ assault today will be Lindley Fran Navaja, who is another Palaro gold medal winner. Navaja will be competing in the Boys 100 meter run, the event he ruled in the Palarong Pambansa. Navaja won two gold medals from the tracks in the Palaro. (MCB)
