Girl, 6, accuses teenager of rape

A 16-YEAR-OLD boy made no move to deny having raped the 6-year-old daughter of his neighbor.

Jeff (not his real name) admitted to the crime when the victim’s mother confronted him just a few minutes after the act was committed.

In her sworn statement, Anne (real name withheld because she is a minor) of Pardo, Cebu City, said that the incident happened in the afternoon of May 3, 2007. She was playing near her house when Jeff, her neighbor, called her on the pretext of giving the child P20.

But when Anne approached him, she found that he had only lied about giving her money.

Anne said that Jeff then took her inside a store by the road, which was annexed to Jeff’s house. It was there that the suspect allegedly took off the girl’s underwear and raped her.

Anne said that she “felt scared” and begged Jeff to let her go, but it was only when she started crying that the suspect allowed her to leave, giving her P3.

When she arrived home, she complained to her mother of pain in her private parts. After being examined, Anne narrated to her mother what had happened.

Anne’s “disgusted and angry” mother immediately confronted Jeff at his house, which was only a few meters away from hers. Jeff admitted to the crime.

A medical certificate from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) supported the allegations of the mother and daughter. A subpoena was issued for Jeff to submit his counter-affidavit, but it was rejected at his last known address.

Jeff was charged last Thursday with one count of rape, with bail set at P120,000. (KAB)
