Monday, June 02, 2008 Roderos to meet with PDEA over probe on agent's killing
TO understand the issues and concerns of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in the ongoing investigation on the death of one of its agents, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Ronald Roderos plans to meet with its officers this afternoon.
This was after PDEA Chief Dionisio Santiago claimed there is a plot to kill two more of their agents following the death of FO3 Priscilliano Gingoyon Jr.
He also cited some “loopholes” in the investigation, asking why it took time for the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 to arrest Michael Baclohan, one of the suspects.
Roderos said he will meet with PDEA 7 Director Jennifer Rosales and ask for her inputs and clarifications on Gingoyon’s case.
He will also call all agencies tied to the investigation to a case conference on Tuesday to find out the progress of the investigation.
Last Saturday, Santiago bared a plot to kill two more PDEA agents who may have slighted some people in the course of their drug operations.
He also defended Gingoyon following reports of his alleged involvement in the sale of illegal drugs.
Gingoyon’s family has asked the Lapu-Lapu City Police to dig deeper into the case to find out who the mastermind his death.
Reports of a rift between PDEA 7 agents and the Lapu-Lapu police have also surfaced after Gingoyon’s death.
Gingoyon had led a drug operation last Feb. 6 against a certain Junrey Paloman when they ended up getting arrested by the Lapu-Lapu police.
After the court cleared the PDEA agents, they filed a counter-suit against 14 policemen before the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas. (MEA)
