THE back-to-back concert of two foreign acts next week has some changes. While that of the Air Supply will push through as scheduled on June 13, that of the Sonic Flood, which was originally slated on the 14th, has been moved to a much later date, Aug. 16 that is.
Organizers of the Sonic Flood show say that as far as ticket sales is concerned it is doing well. The reason for the postponement is “logistical challenges from Tennessee, USA,” whatever that means.

A few weeks back, popular singer-songwriter Kitchie Nadal was in town for a very important event; the launching of the Caltex with Techron television commercial, which, I believe, you are now quite familiar with. Chevron, maker of the engine-cleaning fuel brand Caltex with Techron, says that Kitchie was chosen because she reflects the positive qualities of their products.
The launching was held at Ratsky and it was marked by a mini-concert, which was lapped up by music-lovers and concert-goers (needless to say, that includes me, he-he!).
Kitchie’s appearance in the TV ad is her first and it is a global campaign in seven countries across Asia. The ad (and its
radio version) features Kitchie’s song entitled Highway which, according to Kitchie, evokes the joys of traveling especially when one is going the right way.
It’s taken from her latest album Love Letter which Kitchie describes as a “spiritually charged compilation of songs on life, love and the grace of God” including Armour Bearer, Wide Awake, Takipsilim, Iniibig Kita, Beautiful Jesus, Grace, Walk on Water and Lalaland.

Anthony Pangilinan and wife Maricel Laxa were in town a couple of weeks back to grace the opening of Chez André food shop at Paseo. Anthony and Maricel are good friends of the owners, namely: Edwin Ortiz, Christian Paroan and Rod Go.
It was a double treat for those who were present during that special event. They had a close range view of the wholesome showbiz couple and they had several bites of the mouthwatering specialties on the menu.
Early this year, Chez André also opened a branch along F. Ramos St. right across Velez Hospital. This branch is owned by the Farrarons (Quito, Chinggoy, Angel and Jingjing) and Tom Aleguiojo. Although there was no guest from showbiz, those who graced that event were celebrities in their own right.
I can almost hear the chorus of agreement from the guests. Of course!

At this stage, let me congratulate fellow member of the Sun.Star Cebu family, copy editor Publio “Pubs” J. Briones III for being nominated for best supporting actor in the Star Awards and for breakthrough performance of an actor in the Golden Screen Awards.
This is because of his performance in the independent movie Confessional, which was screened at one of the movie houses in SM City Cebu not too long ago. The movie has created quite a stir and has in fact already some feathers in its literary cap from other award giving bodies.
Good luck, Pubs. In case you need a cheering squad during the awards ceremonies, you can count on me.

Sibonga Mayor Lionel Bacaltos displays his faith in the talents of his constituents. He showcased them last May 24 as a prelude to Brgy. Simala’s annual fiesta celebration on Monday, June 9.
He believes that aside from sports his constituents can likewise carve a name for themselves in the field of acting, singing and dancing given the right vehicle. His high respect for the Visayan talent is also displayed in having Max Surban do a show tomorrow at the barangay’s sports center.
He also plans to invite Asia’s diva, Dulce, for a show in time for Sibonga’s town fiesta in August. We doff our hat off for
Mayor Lionel for this and many other reasons.

Once again John, the father of ex-housemate Kevin, showed his negative side. One — which made him unpopular among the guardians and most probably among the viewers, too — was in last Monday’s episode of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus.
From the looks of it, he disliked having Ejay among the Big Four and most especially being the Big Winner. He sounded so arrogant (as always) and even accused Ejay of expecting to win by doing nothing and merely capitalizing on the latter’s being poor.
Did I hear it right that he looked down on Ejay’s inability to speak good, straight English? Gosh! Bad! He was so green with envy, which made him forget the physical, mental and emotional hardships that the housemates underwent (including that of his son Kevin) inside the house. Shame on him!
Unwittingly, he has inspired viewers like me to make Ejay win by all means. Go, Ejay, go!
