3 days after she disappears woman turns up dead in tank

THREE days after she was reported missing, a woman was found floating in a water tank in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Relatives of Justina Quevedo, 27, believe she committed suicide as her demeanor days before seemed to suggest that she was depressed about something.

At about 9 a.m., residents had begun to smell a pungent odor at the rooftop of the Virgie Yap Building.

It had also been three days since they reported Justina missing at the Fuente Police Station, prompting them to begin searching for her around the building.

Her brother Rogelio Quevedo said his sister confided in him that she was “fed up” of having to take care of her family.

She worked as a housemaid and sent money to her family regularly in Barangay Naljub, Dalaguete, Cebu.

She also reportedly said that she would be gone one of these days and was seen by Lucia Ersan staring into space often.

Because she had been missing for several days, everyone in the building began looking for her.

Ricky Dimol then found her floating in the water tank, which was 10 feet deep.

It had an opening of 2x2 feet and the water was waist-deep.

The tank was covered by a thin piece of plywood.

Though she had warned companions that she would soon be gone, police still want an autopsy performed on her body to make sure there was no foul play since there were no witnesses who saw her climb the water tank. (MEA)
