IT is heartwarming to note that a lot of people, including foreigners, genuinely appreciate the dancing inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. As emcee of their monthly presentation, I always notice that spectators of the dancing inmates are always eager to see them interpret new dance steps in addition to their usual numbers. As an entertainment fare, the monthly presentation of the dancing inmates is one that the general public should not miss to watch.

MAYOR Tomas Osmeña’s comment about the dancing inmates (“We are the only local government unit that has a dancesport team; the Province has, but they’re all prisoners”) is so childish. The insulting statement smacks of arrogance coming from someone who is obviously envious of the global fame that the dancing inmates have earned and continue to earn via the YouTube, something that his dancesport team has yet to achieve.

BY the way, what has the mayor done to improve the plight of the city prisoners? Is there a chance or possibility for them to copy their provincial counterparts when it comes to talent?

THIS Thursday and Friday, June 12 and 13, local and foreign tourists will definitely have a grand time exploring the beauty of five towns and one city of midwest Cebu. The city of Toledo and the municipalities of Pinamungajan, Aloguinsan, Tuburan, Asturias, Tabuelan and Balamban are all set to warmly welcome the tourists to be headed by Gov. Gwen Garcia herself. This is the very first time for these six local government units to participate in Suroy-Suroy Sugbo, the governor’s program aimed to promote local tourism and culture. Wanna join it? Call tel. nos. 2536070 or 2531970 right now.

ONE of Cebu’s most respectedmedia personalities of all time, my good friend and colleague Vicente “June” Kintanar (I call him June K) is out to prove that he is still as durable as ever in the arena of radio broadcasting. The veteran radioman has a new program over dyRF Radyo Fuerza (1215 khz on the AM dial) from Monday to Saturday, 5:15-6 a.m. His program tackles current local, national and international issues with fresh news feeds from the station’s field reporters. I felicitate June K for this program. His way of analyzing issues is so easy to comprehend. I was still in knee pants when I started to listen to his golden voice when he was still newscasting for the now defunct dyRC.

THIS aging stage director is looking for prospective producers for a planned production but it seems nobody is interested.
His questionable way of handling money and his talents is the culpit. (E-mail: samcost@yahoo.com or text 09268443888)
