SUMMER'S just ended and the rains are here. Even during this time of change of seasons, the tropical gardens of Montebello Villa Hotel continually bloom in full.
And as the last salute to the month of flowers and everything that has something to do with summertime, Cebuano artists came up with a show that celebrates the season.
“Flores de Montebello” is a showcase that harvest floral blooms. Flowers, as a subject, no doubt have eternally inspired the art practice. The Montebello lobby turned into an instant art showcase that documented the diversity of the hotel’s flora.
To prepare for the exhibit, the artists did some on-the-spot paintings during one weekend. This was to capture the garden’s natural color and beauty.
Some artists, though, opted to shoot photographs to take home and then work on them in their studios. Both senior and up-and-coming artists are participants. Familiar names, like Celso Pepito, Kimsoy Yap, Benji Goyha, Pronnie Cerna, led the roster with a whole lot of others.
Freshmen painters, like Gary Watin and John Dinglasa, equally showed that their skill is at par with the rest.
The show will last for the whole month of June. If you have the time to catch it, you may just fall in love with a painting.
