Thursday, June 19, 2008 UP, Ayala to sign MOA on tech incubation lab
CEBU has one of the fastest-growing economy in the country and is regarded as the information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) capital in the region. Hence, Cebu is an ideal location for a technology business incubation (TBI) facility, which will provide an “enabling” environment for start-up companies to grow and remain financially viable, help encourage established companies to relocate in the region, and provide an investment vehicle for investors.
The TBI facility will be located in the University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas Cebu Campus.
The TBI project is a collaboration between UP Visayas and Ayala Foundation Inc., which will be formalized with a memorandum of agreement to be signed by Ayala Foundation executive vice president Guillermo M. Luz and UP Vi-sayas Chancellor Dr. Glenn Aguilar on Friday.
The TBI facility will be managed by the Department of Computer Science of UP Visayas, which was recently awarded by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence in IT Education. (PR)
