Nursing student, 2 others fall in PDEA drug bust
THREE drug suspects, one of them a male nursing student, fell into the hands of anti-narcotics agents in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City last Tuesday afternoon.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 identified them as Humprey Dave Amores, 26, of Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City; Vanessa Delgado, 23, of Barangay Mambaling; and Janice Nicor, 28, of V. Rama Ave., Cebu City.
But their fourth companion, Giovanni Abella, who allegedly figured in PDEA’s drug watch list and was placed under surveillance for one month, managed to flee past 3
p.m.
PDEA 7 acting spokesman Jessie Tabanao said Abella reportedly jumped into the river separating Sambag I and N. Bacalso Ave., Cebu City.
Still, lawmen seized a big pack of shabu weighing five grams with a street value of P50,000 from the arrested suspects. Tabanao said Delgado, Abella’s alleged live-in partner, received the P200 buy-bust money in exchange for the seized illegal stuff.
Nicor reportedly handed in the shabu to an agent acting as poseur-buyer.
After getting a pre-arranged signal, a PDEA team led by Intelligence Officer 4 Julius Navales barged into the alleged drug den of Abella, he said.
Lawmen also arrested Amores, a third year nursing student at a university, after he was seen hanging out at the place.
Violations for the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the three and Abella, who remains at large.
The arrest came a day after PDEA agents collared drug suspect Joel Cabido, 30, who reportedly yielded 51 packs of shabu worth P20,000 in Upper Pitalo, San Fernando, Cebu. (GC)
