French Police attache visits GM Cañete

FORMER French Minister of Filipino martial arts and French Police Attache assigned in the Philippines paid homage to Doce Pares Supreme Grandmaster Dionisio Cañete at the World Headquarters in Sto. Niño Village, Banilad, Cebu City.

Attache Eric Laulagnet, who was on official business in Cebu City along with his assistant Philippie Le Saux, wrapped up his southern trip Wednesday night with a visit to the Supreme Grandmaster.

Laulagnet said that he made sure that he visits Doce Pares World Headquarters before leaving for Manila where he will be based for the next three years.

He said that it was a pleasure to meet the top man of Doce Pares.

Supreme GM Cañete however, said that, “It was actually his pleasure to host an Attache who is also practitioner of Eskrima.”

The visit of Laulagnet and Le Saux to the gym did not disappoint the duo as they were awed by the well-maintained gym.

Laulagnet, a French police and a practitioner of Eskrima for 15 years, was all praises to Supreme GM Cañete for having the best gym he had seen so far in the Philippines.

“I practice eskrima regularly. However, me and my group move from one gym to another or to a public park, or from one backyard and another backyard. Sometimes, I invite people to come over to my place to practice with me,” said Laulagnet.

Laulagnet was invited and is sharing his Eskrima skills to a special action force of the Philippine National Police, being the Police Attache of his country.

Le Saux said that it is amazing that today Filipino policemen are learning the Filipino martial arts from a Frenchman. Le Saux is also learning Eskrima under Laulagnet.

Laulagnet and Le Saux will be returning in Cebu to train with Doce Pares Masters

“I will definitely come here and stay longer to practice,” Laulagnet said. (PR)
