Speak out: Crisis of rice and hike of oil price
By Gabriel F. Abear
D. Jakosalem St., Cebu City

PEOPLE should not worry about the scarcity of rice, because the less rice you eat is good for your health.

Eating a full plate of rice in every meal and three times a day is bad, as it increases your blood sugar level and worst, you become diabetic. This is medically proven.

Once you are diabetic, you will inject insulin in your body for the rest of your life, until vital organs are affected.

Rice is one cause of high blood sugar level, so there is no alarm of high cost of rice. Take one cup of rice in every meal, but consumes more vegetables and fruits as advised by doctors.

To conserve energy especially gasoline, commute from house to office with jeepney and use car only on a very important matters, attending business or meetings.

To minimize electrical consumption, unplug all appliances, especially refrigerators and electric fans, during peak hours and when you leave the house.

Instead of using electric or gas stove, use a local stove using charcoal and firewood, when simmering beef stew.

Due to high cost of oil, prices of all commodities increase also, I advise people with low and average income to spend wisely and drop all vices to coup up their needs.
