IN response to the country’s growing tourism and hospitality industries’ needs for globally competitive work force, the University of the Visayas in partnership with the Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts invested in a multi-million HRM Laboratory for its students thereby providing them with the best academic, technical hands on training.
Located at the 3rd floor of the Don Vicente Gullas Building, this world class training facility boasts of a state-of-the-art kitchen with equipments imported from Italy and Germany and features a hotel-like environment complete with a front office, concierge, housekeeping section, a 200-seater function room and bar and restaurant that can accommodate up to 70 people. It also has an executive suite, a standard room, and cabin room usually seen in cruise ships.
UV also has established a linkage with POEC Consultancy International and Strategic Property Management Ltd., a Canada based recruitment agency for students’ employment opportunities in hotels and restaurants in Calgary, Canada and nearby cities.
UV’s College of Business Administration is offering bachelor and associate degrees in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management and TESDA’s Ladderized Program for Housekeeping NC II, Commercial Cooking II, Food and Beverage NC II.
