Jakosalem, Aldeguer: Pacquiao will KO Diaz

IT will be a knockout.

Both ALA Promotions President Michael Aldeguer and Cebu City Council committee on sports, amusement and games Chairman Sylvan “Jack” Jackosalem see Manny Pacquiao destroying David Diaz in the later rounds of their most awaited battle tomorrow.

Aldeguer didn’t specify what round but he feels that the WBC super featherweight titleholder will walk out from the ring victorious via knockout, while Jackosalem assured that Diaz won’t get past through the eighth.

“Manny will knock Diaz out in the later rounds,” Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview.

“Diaz won’t last eight rounds against Pacquiao,” said Jackosalem.

Aldeguer thinks that Pacquiao will be as deadly as ever because he will preserve the speed and power which he has been known to posses.

“I believe that Manny will enhance his power at 135 because he can eat well unlike his previous fights against Barrera and Marquez. He went up in weight not just to fight a bigger boxer but because he is more comfortable there,” said Aldeguer. “I think he will still retain his power and his speed. He will be a much more devastating Pacquiao.”

Aldeguer believes that Pacquiao, going up a notch higher in weight, will be hurt by the bombs of Diaz but will still have the edge in the fight because he is much faster and is a knockout puncher.

“He will feel the punches of Diaz but with his speed and power he will still have the advantage. Diaz is a slow slugger,” he said.

Both Jackosalem and Aldeguer believe that the odds are against Diaz because Pacquiao is virtually the better fighter.

“Going up five pounds is a big factor but knowing the speed, power, strength and style of Pacquiao the odds are for him,” Jackosalem told Sun.Star Cebu.

“Manny is at his peak right now. He is a fighter of different level. Diaz will have a hard time,” said Aldeguer. (EKA)
