PREPARATIONS are underway for a “nice and grand” Mandaue City Business Month in August.
“The big launch (of the business month) is going to be on Aug. 8,” said Eric Ng Mendoza, president of the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
Among the activities planned for the celebration is an expo that will feature the recipients of the Countryside Enterprise and Business Upliftment (Cebu) project of Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia. Various business establishments in Mandaue City are also expected to participate in the expo.
Mendoza said that under the Capitol-initiated project, the MCCI had conducted a series of seminar-trainings on the basics—like how to start a business, marketing strategies and product development—for businessmen in rural areas.
“This is in support of the governor’s call (for chambers to go to the next level and) help in livelihood projects,” Mendoza said.
The output of the seminar-trainings will be presented during the Mandaue Business Month (MBM) expo. The expo will also be held in time for Cebu Province’s Founding Day celebration.
This year’s MBM will also involve regional participants since MCCI will also host the Visayas Area Conference of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) on Aug. 14 to 16. The regional conference will be participated in by 16 different chambers in the Visayas.
The MBM will also present a “Pasigarbo sa Sugbo,” showcasing 40 streetdancing contingents from the different municipalities and towns of Cebu Province.
Mendoza said that later this week, the chamber will be meeting with the governor to present and finalize the other details of the business month. (DME)
