Alberto, Razon take The View ’08 lead in Day 1

PARTNERS Rolando Alberto and Hospicio Razon took the temporary lead in the overall standings in the first day of the View Invitational Golf Tournament at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

Based on the partial results released by AVGCC, Alberto and Razon were on top of the rankings with a combined total 81 points, edging the duo of Alfredo Alorro Tan and Junnie Cimafranca by just a point.

Alberto had the second-best round of the day with a 43, while Cimafranca towed the second placers with his 41.

The team of Jufil Sato and Hubert Calan finished third with 79 points, also trailing Tan and Cimafranca by just a point.

Sato had a better round than Cimafranca with a 42, but partner Calan settled with a 37 for their third place finish.

Ranked fourth was the pair of Loloy Sabuga and Efren Palugod, who tallied 76 points.

The twosome of Wilky Lim and Angelo Marquez were tied at the fifth spot with Edwin Lapas Espina and Nido Lao with identical total scores of 73 points.

Antonio “Toby” Florendo and Dino Yap were tied at seventh with Koko Holganza and Oscar Cornelio with a total of 69 points, while Hyung Wha “Paul” Lee and Bause Shin finished with 66 points at ninth spot followed by Kenneth Wilkie Dyguani and Alexander Reyes at 10th place with 65 points.

Meanwhile, Yasunori Hara tallied the best round of the day with a 44, a point higher than Alberto’s, but his partner Kaoru Yamazaki performed poorly with only 17 points, which led to them drop at 17th place with a total of 61 points.

The View Invitational is the signature tournament of AVGCC and attracted some 400 golfers this year. The four-day, 36-hole event will also have a fund-raising activity for the victims of Typhoon Frank. (EKA)
