Go: Y101’s party
By Charlene Go

AFTER the success of the Y101 Corporate cup last year, the who’s who in Cebu’s golf circle gathered once again at the Cebu Country Club for the biggest golf event of the year, the “2nd Y101 Corporate Cup.”

With 30 participating teams, the rhythm crew carefully arranged to present the golfers with only the best, and that they did, making this tournament as one of the most talked about events of the year and certainly unforgettable.

The three-day event kicked off with the Ceremonial Tee off headed by Y101 CEO Martha Tuason, Vice Mayor of Cebu Mike Rama, and the president of the Cebu Country Club, Douglas Luym.

As guests enjoyed their glass of Dom Perignon, Y101’s House Guru DJ Mael Lavares served up tribal mixes as per this year’s theme, with awe-inspiring poi dancers. Since the party had a Boracay theme, what better way to compliment the event but by having Chef Binggoy, proprietor of Dos Mestizos Restaurant in Boracay, prepare some of the finest Mediterranean cuisine?

The evening spelled – class! Unfortunately, typhoon Frank didn’t spare any mercy for the golfers, and the scores were based only on the first day of the tournament. Nevertheless, the awards night was a big success. It was hosted by Y101 president and radio personality Jack d Wack and Miss Cebu 2008, Sian Maynard. Dancesport Team Cebu rocked the ballroom with their interpretation of Rhythm of the City and body-painted models graced the stage as Lupon Anduyo performed eclectic tribal music. Participants went home with exciting raffle prizes such as cellphones, appliances, gift certificates, Armscor guns and many more.

Cheers to Y101 and all the participants for making the second Y101 corporate cup another awesome event!
