Sunday, July 06, 2008 'Thief' shot dead in sitio Jerusalem
A SUSPECTED thief was gunned down near his house on Sitio Jerusalem, Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City last Friday night.
Three people were also hurt in separate incidents in the city.
Homicide investigators led by SPO4 Alex Dacua found the body of Jade V. Ypilan, 25, lying face down on a bench, with a gunshot wound in the back.
Ypilan’s neighbor Romeo Ponce told police that the incident occurred at 7:10 p.m., Friday.
Ponce and Ypilan were sitting on the bench when the gunman reportedly approached from behind and shot him once. Ypilan died on the spot.
Dacua said his team is verifying reports that Ypilan was a burglar.
One shell from a .45 was found in the area.
Arrested
Earlier that day, a 67-year-old man was arrested by Waterfront Police Station for allegedly stabbing 55-year-old Serio Medalle on M.J Cuenco Ave.
Police identified the suspect as Eduardo Villamor, of Barangay Tinago.
Medalle told homicide investigators that he and his sister were walking when Villamor scolded the victim’s sister over a personal matter.
Argument
In the argument that followed, Villamor stabbed Medalle in the left forearm and left part of the body.
Villamor was arrested by PO1s Armando R. Ponce Jr. and Rusell B. Tolentino, who were conducting patrol in the area.
A 13-inch kitchen knife was recovered from Villamor.
In Duljo-Fatima, Alfredo Librando, 24, suffered wounds in the abdomen, right forearm and in the right part of his body after he was stabbed by one of men who attacked him and his friends at 12:30 a.m. in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.
Librando and his three friends were walking on C. Padilla St. when the perpetrators waylaid them.
Meanwhile, Henry Taborada, 18, was taken to the city hospital for a wound in the head after an unidentified gunman shot him while he was inside a jeepney in Poblacion Pardo. (JST)
