Niños top Pagadian leg

PAGADIAN City—The M. Lhuilllier-Cebu Niños copped the No.1 spot after scoring their second win in three games at the end of the elimination round of the Pagadian leg of the 2008 Liga Pilipinas Championships Tour Elimination phase at the Pagadian City Gym.

Cebu defeated the Misamis Oriental Meteors, 84-72, and nabbed the No.1 spot after home team Pagadian Explorers bowed to Trace Laguna Stallions, 56-58, in the main game.

Three teams finished with the same record but the Niños’ 37 points rout over the Laguna last Thursday evening put them ahead of the pack with a plus 35-point margin after the Liga Quotient System was used to break the tie.

Pagadian came in second with zero and Laguna was at minus 2.

Cebu was set to play the Meteors, while Pagadian was to face Laguna in the knockout semifinal round at press time.

Former USJ-R Jaguar Richard Ian Saladaga he led the Niños to victory after finishing with a game-high 22 points. (RCM)
