2T families get aid, relief goods

OVER 2,000 families affected by typhoon Frank in Iloilo received relief goods from members of the JCI-Metro Cebu Uptown recently.

JCI Metro Cebu Uptown and its sister organization Iloilo-based Ilangilang distributed bags containing two kilos of rice, noodles, canned goods and other relief items to residents of four barangays in the towns of Pototan, Maasin, Dumangas and Our Lady of Lourdes in Jaro and Barangay San Rafael in Mundurriao.

The beneficiaries were in tears after receiving the relief items and were grateful for the help of the Cebuano group.

The group, led by its president Atty. Donato Gonzalez, initially launched a text campaign with the help of RGMA 7 anchor and Sun.Star Cebu columnist Bobby Nalzaro.

In just a span of three days, the group, chaired by Carlos Porras Jr., was able to accumulate relief goods.

Supporters

With the support of Cebu-based schools—the Philippine Christian Gospel School and Salazar Institute of Technology—and Trans-Asia’s Abe Sy, who took care of the shipping, the group from JCI Metro Cebu Uptown headed for Iloilo to personally distribute the relief goods and see the typhoon victims.

Gonzalez, secretary general Joel Si and Porras are thanking those, especially the club’s members, for supporting the campaign and for giving donations to the people of Iloilo, who lost their homes and belongings during the calamity.
