Cebu City leads Liga ranking

THE multi-titled M. Lhuillier-Cebu Niños are now looking forward to hosting three teams next Wednesday as Liga Pilipinas enters its fifth week at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Niños are now four points ahead of the Pampanga Buddies after winning the Pagadian leg of the 2008 Liga Pilipinas Championships last week.

Cebu now has 24 points after winning its second leg title. The Pampanga Buddies, on the other hand, collected seven more points during its hosting of the elimination tour to now carry 20 points.

Misamis Oriental leg champions Pagadian Explorers are currently at third place with 17 points, while Taguig Batang Global, the champions of the Taguig leg stays alive and is currently placed fourth with 16 points.

In Zamboanga City today, the Explorers and the Batang Global will seek to take over the leadership when they start their campaign to win their second leg titles.

However, Ilocos Sur Bravehearts, the runnerup of the Ilocos Sur leg and Zamboanga Amores, third placer of the Pampanga Leg, are out to make things unbearable for Pagadian and Taguig.

Up north, in Lipa City, Batangas, the Iloilo Mang Inasals, Baguio Victory, Tagaytay-Cavite Heroes and Lipa-Batangas Barakos are gunning to win their first leg titles.

Completing the standings are: Misamis Oriental with 9 points, Ilocos Sur (7), Baguio (6), Tagaytay-Cavite (6), Laguna (4), Lipa-Batangas (4), Zamboanga (3), (Iloilo 2), and Quezon (2). (RCM)
