Havaianas

THE history of Chiso Company goes back about 450 years ago, in the year 1555, when the Nishimura family started a textile business at Sanjo Karasuma in Kyoto, Japan.

Yuzensai Miyazaki, who was a famous fan painter, innovated a dyeing technique nori-bohsen (applying starch to certain areas) to distinguish his pattern. This dyeing technique has been used since then and is called yuzen dyeing.

With unchanged confidence and high quality since its establishment, Chiso is committed to create Yuzen, which will endure throughout various transitions in the future.

Why Havaianas Chiso

Brazil and Japan have close diplomatic and cultural ties due to their immigration history that will celebrate 100 years in 2008. Apart from this, both countries are considered as fashion hotspots- with Brazil strong in beachwear and Japan in streetwear.

Havaianas is an icon of Brazilian culture as well as Chiso is for Japanese culture.

As both brands stay true to tradition yet keep innovating with a modern look, we decided to develop such partnership and offer our customers a style that joins the Havaianas concept with Chiso artistic and traditional design.

Collection Havaianas Chiso is available in three styles:

Hou-ou

Hou-ou (as well as kirin or giraffe, kame or turtle and ryu or dragon) is considered imaginary animal, named as four souls, that Japanese believes appears in special occasions.

Hou-ou has the crest like the cock, long tail and colorful feather. Hou-ou is one of the most noble symbols in Japan attracting happiness. Havaianas and Chiso would like to wish lots of happiness to you

Ryu

Ryu. The myth says that, if there were a carp in the top of the waterfall, it would become a Dragon. The Dragon Portal, named as Toryuumon, relates to success in Japanese Culture and Havaianas and Chiso would like to wish success to you.
Momoyama

Momoyama design refers to the Kimono sleeve of Momoyama Era (D.C. 1574 – 1602).

This design is really characteristic of Momoyama Era and is expressed by lots of flowers in a determined and limited space.

The style creates a space in the left side that opposes to the right side, forming a balance beauty with diversified colors of vivid flowers. Havaianas and Chiso would like to offer a balance in your life.
