Festin-Baybay: Doing It Good
By Tita Dulce Festin-Baybay
That's Right!

THAT’S right, Kidsters! When you want to do good things, do it well. What do I mean by this? As I have been writing here about this topic again and again, I want to emphasize the importance of doing good things while still young.

Many great men and women who changed people's lives say that oftentimes, the inspiration to do good started while they were in school. It may be due to the influence of a wise teacher or parents or relatives.

Last weekend, I watched on Hallmark Channel a movie called “Though None Go With Me.” It tells the story of a housewife, who after losing her only son in an accident ,felt her faith in God weaken. She was so depressed she could not go on doing the things she used to do.

When she talked with a priest mentor, he said that the only way she can get out of her depression is to do good by serving others. Much as she was really feeling low, she went out and continued her service to her community parish. Fifty years later, when her community was giving her a thanksgiving party for her service through the years, all the people that she helped came. The lady was surprised by the outpouring of gratitude that those whose lives she touched for the better showed up, after so many years.

That’s right, Kidsters! No matter how you are feeling, continue doing good and do it well. You will never know how it will all come back to you years later.
