20 kids to get free education

TWENTY children will be given a chance to go to school with the help of a private company.

Through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, Timex Philippines Inc. pledged to sponsor the education of an initial 20 children from World Vision’s Cebu project area.

The partnership also includes the rehabilitation of three Cebu public schools, the provision of 200 new classroom armchairs and the construction of a barangay health station in the local target area to address the healthcare needs of children and their families.

These efforts are in line with Timex’s and World Vision’s desire to uplift the lives of poor children and help them reach their full potential through quality education and good health care services.

In Cebu, World Vision, an international child-focused organization, assists over 2,500 school-aged children.

Representatives of Lapu-Lapu City-based watch manufacturer Timex Philippines and World Vision recently signed a memorandum of agreement for the assistance.

Signing

The signing was held at the Timex compound in the Mactan Economic Zone during Timex’s Family Day attended by some 10,000 of its employees.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization that helps transform the lives of the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries.

In the Philippines, it currently helps more than 121,000 children in 34 provinces and 27 cities nationwide through Child Sponsorship.
