1 dead, 2 hurt in videoke bar
A VIDEOKE house melee left one man dead and two others wounded in Sitio Ylaya, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City last Saturday night.
The incident started after a suspect got offended when one of the victims allegedly stared hard at him.
In a report, PO3 Buenaventura Ursaiz, Homicide Section investigator, identified the slain victim as Jemwell B. Patigayon, 21, who suffered stab wounds in the left side of the body and left arm.
Jemwell died before reaching the Cebu North General Hospital.
Oliver, his 27-year-old brother who works as a construction worker, and footwear worker Carel L. Recelio, 26, were treated in the same hospital.
Oliver suffered stab wounds in the chest and left wrist, while Recelio was wounded in the abdomen and left shoulder.
The incident took place inside J&J Ouano Transport Garage at 9:30 p.m.
The police said the victims, with Ramilo Palacio and Leodegario Lapeña, both co-workers of Recelio, were singing and drinking inside the establishment when a certain Ramil N. Trinidad confronted Oliver for staring hard at him.
“Ngano isog ka’g tinan-awan nako (Why are you staring at me)?” Trinidad was reportedly overheard as asking Oliver.
Trinidad allegedly then pushed Oliver, and was joined by four other men in mauling him.
Recelio, Palacio and Lapeña allegedly ran away, leaving Oliver and Jemwell behind.
Two attackers allegedly pulled out knives and stabbed the brothers before fleeing with their companions onboard a public utility jeepney (PUJ).
Recelio narrated that he also rode a PUJ traveling towards Talamban proper to escape the attackers; unfortunately, it was the same vehicle the suspects were riding.
One allegedly recognized and stabbed Recelio, while another kicked and punched him until he fell from the PUJ.
Responding Homicide Section policemen led by SPO1 Roger Nedamo and Talamban Police Station personnel led by PO3 Giovanni Placencia arrested Trinidad; Jesus Tanseco, 42; and Raymond C. Klem, 31, inside a garage in Sitio Cadahuan, Talamban where they worked.
Suspects Vergilio Balabad, 26, and Benhor Balabad, 37, escaped by jumping over a concrete fence.
In a separate incident, two neighbors were taken to Cebu City Medical Center after stabbing each other in Barangay Capitol Site.
Michael C. Potot, 36, and Andres B. Alegado, 47, were reportedly drinking when an argument ensued.
Potot allegedly pushed Alegado, who retaliated by stabbing him in the chest.
Despite his wound, Potot also got a knife and attacked Alegado, stabbing him at the back of the head.
SPO1 Desiderio Mendaros and Mobile Patrol Group policemen recovered two kitchen knives from the scene. (JST)
