SEEKING revenge for the loss of his brother Bobby, Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is looking forward to a match against Mexican super featherweight Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto in his slated fight on Nov. 8 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
“Okay lang naman kung si Soto lalo na’t tinalo niya yung kapatid kong si Bobby (It’s okay that I fight Soto, especially since he beat my brother Bobby),” said Pacquiao in a report at www.abs-cbnnews.com.
Manny’s sibling, Bobby, fell prey to Soto’s powerful punches in the seventh round of their battle last June 9 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Ringside
The current World Boxing Council lightweight and super featherweight champion will be at ringside as a spectator for the July 26 Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito fight card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in which he will be supporting fellow Filipino boxer Bernabe Concepcion who will be facing Adam Carrera.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be talking to Pacquiao about his decision of the proposed skirmish with Soto.
“Soto is confirmed pending my meeting with Manny here in the USA next week. Manny has the final choice but Soto is available,” said Arum.
Attractive
Arum believes that a fight with Soto would be more attractive to the fight fans which will be a continuation of the saga of Pacquiao battling Mexicans.
“I believe he’s more appealing because he’s Mexican. And Soto is a very tough-tough man,” said Arum.
In Pacquiao’s illustrious career, he has already tormented a long list of Mexican warriors including the top three Mexican pugilists Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez.
The Venezuelan knockout artist Edwin Valero was originally scheduled to fight the 29-year-old from General Santos but he hasn’t been cleared to fight in Las Vegas.
WBC gave Pacquiao until July 28 to decide which title he will keep the WBC lightweight crown or the super featherweight belt. (EKA)
