Teves rules Guardo golf

TONY Teves defeated Edgar Pa–nuncillo via countback to rule the Atan Guardo-Manoy’s Golf Tournament over the weekend at the picturesque Mercedes Golf and Country Club in the northern Cebu town of Medellin, which is famous for its sugarcane plantation.

They finished the tournament with similar net 65.

Bernie Dableo, who finished with net 67, claimed the third place honors. The lowest gross went to Bart Vergara, while the lowest net was posted by Dennis Yu.

Close to 50 prominent members of the organization, including Aster Lagura and Toto Ursal of Manila, took part in the event, which is spearheaded by Rolly Villegas in cooperation with sports patron Jonathan L. Guardo.

Guardo is an honorary member of the organizing team of the Manoy’s Golf Club Association.

“Like any other athletic discipline, golf is fun and a very exciting sport,” said Guardo, a two-time Sportsman of the Year awardee by the Sportswriters Association of Cebu.

“I’m very happy to be part of the Manoy’s golf tournament and I’m looking forward to the next one,” added the top honcho of Uniherb Philippines, one of the country’s leading health companies that produces popular food supplement such as Arthro, Hearvit, Kidneycare, and Diabet.

Guardo, himself a competitive athlete and a marketing man, is also an avid supporter of cycling, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, football, and boxing events.

His active involvement and selfless dedication earned him a multitude of accolades and a stint with the Cebu City Sports Commission a few years back. (PR)
