‘I want Roy Fernandez to rot in jail’
A FORMER security guard who admitted to taking part in the P2 million robbery of La Nueva Supe-rmart expressed remorse yesterday and said he wanted to see their gang leader rot in jail.
“Magmahay man ko pero uwahi na (I may regret what I did but it’s too late),” Danilo Flores said yesterday.
Flores said he was forced into joining the Roy Fernandez robbery group. He said Fernandez threatened to kill his family if he refused to join their group.
“Si Roy (Fernandez) maayo unta siya og mamatay. Dako siya og sala nako. Dili unta ko makakuyog sa grupo kong wa pa gihulga nga patyon akong pamilya (I hope Roy dies. I wouldn’t have been part of the group had he not threatened my family.),” Flores said.
Yesterday, he said all he wanted was to see Fernandez rot in jail. Flores said he is willing to execute an extra-judicial confession against Fernandez.
Flores, 33, a native of Bukidnon who resided in Sitio Mahusay, Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, said that if he had his way, he would never have joined the group.
He said he just wanted to continue working as a security guard.
Flores said he worked as a security guard of La Nueva starting 1998 until he was dismissed from the job in August 2005.
He said that when Albert “Bitoy” Almedilla, who is also a member of the Roy Fernandez Robbery Group, first approached him to join them, he was tempted after he was given P10,000. He used the money to pay the rent for his family’s house in Mandaue City.
Flores said he became a member of the group in 2006 and participated in two robberies: La Nueva in August 2007 and one in December of the same year in Metro Manila.
Flores, along with Fernandez and Pascual Mata, was arrested after a shootout with police operatives in Pasay City last July 5. Almedilla died in the shootout. (JST)
