Wednesday, July 23, 2008 Race without Raise: No Gas Increase Here By Luis A. Quibranza III
LADIES and gentlemen, the price of oil is rising tremendously bringing with it our basic commodities. But according to Talisay Mini-Fun Land manager Lucilla Ganancial, “prices are the same” since their opening September of 2006. This means trying out their gas-powered rides will still give you a good bang for the buck.
Though their karts are not built for high-speed racing, a dad would love to bring his 10-year-old kid to try them out. Kids will love it. And even older drivers can spare a few bucks for a ride of six laps.
For those who’d want to take the challenge-level a bit higher, the recreational center offers “pocket bikes.” These are real, gas-fueled motorcycles barely the size of computer CPU’s.
But don’t let size fool you. This bike can give you a decent rush, enough to tickle your adrenaline. And the challenge getting on one – and staying on it while racing – is fun enough.
And there’s lots of other stuff you can check out. Carousels for kids, a whole skating area, a basketball court, a food canteen etc. And management is in the process of creating a mini-golf course. How cool is that?
The fun land is open from 3 p.m. –10 p.m. daily, except on Mondays. And again, prices and rates are considerably on the minimum.
To get to the Talisay Mini-Fun Land may be a bit tricky. But I guess that’s what makes this place a better “funland”: when going there and finding the place itself is already adventurous.
So take your pick: would you want to play Colombus or Dora? Come play along.
From the Cebu City, drive straight along the south super highway until you reach Gaisano Tabunok. Make a left turn in the corner of Gaisano and just drive straight. The first intersection you’ll encounter is the crossing of the South Road Properties (SRP).
After you’ve crossed the intersection, go straight until you encounter a fork in the road. Actually, it’s more of like a “pitch-fork” with three-possible ways. The main road (from where you are coming from) will curve to the left.
There’s a road going to the right. Take neither roads, but go straight along the middle still. After a considerable distance, take the first decent corner you see on the right. And after a few meters in, you’ll see the fun land on your left.
For those of you who have been to Crocolandia, the Talisay Mini-Fun Land is actually near the crocodile park.
Now, I could’ve told you that in the first place and avoided the hassle of typing the directions (an extra 700 characters) above. But I think details bear importance.
Think of it this way: you won’t need to go through the unnecessary fun of getting lost.
