8 students caught video-recording sex act

EDUCATION officials are investigating eight students from the Argao National High School who allegedly filmed themselves, using camera phones, while having sex.

Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Serena Uy said they identified four boys and four girls, and will send the division supervisor today to investigate the matter.

Uy also instructed school officials to allow the students to return to school, after learning that the students were not allowed inside yesterday.

“We have to investigate the matter before disallowing the students from going to school. They have to undergo due process,” said Uy, who emphasized the need “to get stories from both sides.”

School officials confiscated the cellular phones of the students to verify, but found no sex videos. They did find pictures of the couples kissing.

According to a dyLA report yesterday, 10 students from Argao National High School were caught drinking and reportedly having sex in an old tourism building near the beach, in the vicinity of a barangay hall.

Uy clarified that she only knew of eight students allegedly involved in the activity.

The students were reportedly caught by off-duty SPO1 Manny Flores while he was at the beach with his family and neighbors.

Flores spotted the students in the old tourism building, drinking while still in their school uniform. By 4 p.m., he heard of the sexual activities allegedly going on inside the building and immediately set out to investigate.

Radio dyLA reported that a couple was caught sleeping together and that Flores found a freshly used condom at the scene. The students were also caught using their cellular phone cameras.

While the students will not be expelled for allegedly committing these acts, school officials are recommending the transfer of these students. They may not be issued a certificate of good moral character by the school. (EPB)
