Group launches business TV

A GROUP of Cebuano professionals has launched a cable TV channel that will mainly cater to businesses operating in Cebu.

Rogelio Ramos, president of Blue Info Club Channel 45, said the channel will not only air information about the business climate in Cebu but will also give different companies the chance to reach their target markets.

Unlike most media outfits, though, Blue Info will not rely on advertisers and sponsors to sustain its operations.

Ramos said the broadcast company will sustain itself from memberships.

Blue Info offers one-year memberships of P300,000, which covers a total of 17,000 spots—each spot equal to 15 seconds of airtime or exposure—on cable Channel 45, outdoor TV advertising and website.

The sum, which can be paid in four quarterly installments, also covers the production and airing of a “docummercial” for the
member-company.

One of Blue Info’s members is a sardine factory, which sought the production of a “docummercial” that shows its production processes, from the catching of the fish at sea to the cannery.

“You can’t find anything cheaper than that,” Ramos said, adding that Blue Info Club Channel 45 members will also become automatic sponsors of concerts that the company will sponsor.

Ramos said with at least six members, the channel’s operations for one year will be sustained.

He said companies who decide to become members of Blue Info need not worry about reaching their markets.

“We intend to provide free coverage of different events and the people who are part of those events would, of course, want to watch themselves on TV. They are the viewers, they will see the docummercials,” he said in an interview Monday.

Aside from these services, Ramos said Blue Info is also the only local cable channel, for now, that can provide the exact air time to interested individuals.

“So if you’re a member, you can tell your friends the exact time your show comes out,” he said.

As it tries to gather more members, Blue Info Club Channel 45 plans to link with different chambers of commerce in Cebu to get business information materials for broadcast.

The channel is on test broadcast and will go into full operations on Aug. 1. (LAP)
