Neighbors suspect foul play in Moalboal woman’s death

THE family of a woman in Moalboal town wants police to investigate her brother-in-law for her sudden death Saturday afternoon.

This was after her neighbors saw Amado Temblor allegedly with his hands around the neck of Maria Yosores-Temblor.

When they asked what was going on, Amado said Maria appeared to be suffering from a stroke and that he was trying to revive her.

A report submitted to the Cebu Provincial Police Office stated that Maria was arguing with Amado inside their house in Sitio Libaong, Barangay Saavedra, Moalboal at 6:30 a.m.

Neighbors claimed they heard a commotion. When their neighbors John-john and Elmer Casagan ran to the house to see what was going on, they saw that Maria was unconscious and that Amado’s hands were around her throat.

However, Amado claimed that Maria had a stroke and that he was just trying to revive her.

She was reported dead at 1 p.m.

Relatives did not believe his story, which is why they approached PO1 Jennylin Awe who, in turn, called up the Moalboal Police Station to report the incident.

PO2 Edgar Mantalabe and his companions proceeded to the area and Amado told them that Maria suffered from a heart attack.

However, Maria’s children reportedly would not believe him until a full autopsy was conducted, citing the testimonies of the neighbors.

Amado was taken in for custodial investigation pending results of the autopsy.

Strangled

In Bogo City, a woman who lived alone was reportedly strangled.

Maria Verdida del Carmen, 56, was found dead in her house in Sitio Panliwad-on, Barangay Cayang, Bogo City Friday afternoon.

The official police report stated that an intruder entered her house through the back window, whose jalousie blades had been detached.

They noted that many of her belongings were scattered around the house. An official report of the city health officer stated that del Carmen was strangled. (MEA)
