Espina: Time to say thank you
By Mila C. Espina
In my diary

THE 14th Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Cebu Business Month 2008 was again a very meaningful success. Chairperson Tess Chan and all the committee chairpersons proved that systems and people make a good team despite formidable challenges. The Grand Chamber Awards was the finale which not only awarded outstanding Cebuano entrepreneurs but likewise thanked all the benefactors and sponsors who never lost their faith in CCCI, a 95-year-old business engine. At present, it is composed of more than 700 members. I would like to thank Gov.r Gwen Garcia, the keynote speaker. We welcomed the participation of Rep. Nerissa Ruiz and Department of Touris (DOT 7) Director Dawnie Roa, Consul Armi Gracia, Usec. Phineas Alburo and all the stakeplayers for making the “5th Tourism Congress” another milestone in the CCCI history. For our medi partners, the congress would like to thank Jay Neri of Sun.Star Cebu, Menandro Mendoza of The Freeman, Isah Red and Gianna Maniego of Manila Standard, Lydia Castillo and Honey Loop of the Philippine Star, 888 Forum and Thelma San Juan of the Philippine Daily Inquirer for the extra mileage for the tourism events. Thanks to Nelia Neri (a friend since the mid-80s), Thea Rinen and Mayen Tan for facilitating.

Needless to say, the July 16 We Care fellowship, also my special day, was the best time to thank my relatives, friends and students. My warmest appreciation to Joseph and Gloria Gaisano who hosted the affair at Whitegold House.
My thanks to Sonia Go for being there all the time.

HRRAC CEBU GOES CULINARY 2008

We would like to acknowledge the role of Bunny Ludo, as the over-all chairperson assisted by Lita Urbina, chairperson,
professional level, and Dottie Wurgler, student division. The success of the entire event was largely due to the academe.

Some schools requested that Hotel, Restaurant and Resorts Association (HRRAC) give the winners trophies which they could keep in their schools. The HRRAC readily acted on this request.
