Versus: coffee or tea By Luis A. Quibranza III
BEFORE these drinks came in expensive cups nicknamed “tall” or “grande” or manufactured, filtered and bottled with goody, fruity-flavors, coffee and tea were both staple drinks that either morning people or nocturnal citizens adored. After a random gathering of information, here’s what some people had to say about which they prefer most: coffee or tea?
“Tea, because coffee makes me nervous especially on deadlines.” - Justin Vestil, 23, news correspondent
“Tea (green tea, to be exact, though not the sugary C2). Because coffee gives me weird heart palpitations, and tea is more refreshing.” - Dyan Cuevas, 20, law student
“Neither. Fresh OJ gyud.” - Calixto (not his real name), 25, sports guy
“Tea, because it contains antioxidants. Unlike coffee, more than two cups of tea can be healthily consumed every day, keeping me hydrated. Tea is also a lot cheaper and has more variety than coffee. - Frances Cabahug, 22, blogger
“Coffee. Why? Wala man gud presence sa tea sa amo-ang dapit. - Maria Angel Tibon, 16, high school student
“Tea. Because it doesn’t give me hyper-acid. But I still love to drink coffee to when I lack sleep and I feel sleepy. However, I prefer to drink ice tea than coffee when I’m sane enough.” - Rhea Ruth Rosell, 21, call center agent
“Coffee. Life is short, why try to prolong it? Besides, who can’t resist the aroma of vanilla or hazelnut in every cup?” -
Rachel Mae Sarmiento, 19, Masscomm student, UP
Surprisingly, tea takes this round home. Will there be a rematch? Who knows? Coffee might pull-off a come-from-behind victory.
But with the price a cup of latté comes with today, the fight may be tight.
Until the next!
