THE fox is out to play.
Amazed by how the fox adeptly moves, Cyrus Velasco translates this animal as a glorious Greek goddess in luxurious draping of fabrics.
Passing his taste in style to a list of young clientele, he describes: “It would be the ‘foxiness’ of a lady. I think girls also have this inner foxiness. I only enhance what they already have.”
Foxy, among fashion disciples, means flirty and fun without going over the top.
Velasco’s feminine interpretation is shaped in bias cuts, flowing from the bust, emphasizing the woman’s curves. He usually gathers soft fabrics, like georgette, tulle and chiffon.
“I am always inspired by the Greek goddesses,” he says, referring to how literature presented these deities in regal colors and rich draping.
For this collection, nude colors dominate. These colors give more importance to the wearer. Choosing colors, according to him, should depend on the occasion and skin tone.
Less is more, the ultimate style guide that he follows as designer. “I do believe that less is more. For me, if your dress is too vulgar or too heavy with its beadwork, use simple accessories like studs.”
And the rule continues: “Do the opposite thing. Sometimes, we go against the rules, if needed, like in fashion shoots and shows — but for ordinary occasion be simple.”
