Saturday, August 09, 2008 Mandaue reroutes traffic for festival
THE parade route for “Pasigarbo sa Sugbu Festival” in Mandaue City will be closed to vehicular traffic starting 11 a.m. today, when street dancing will start.
Dubbed the “festival of festivals,” 34 contingents from the different towns will perform at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), said Mandaue City traffic head Cristobal Guido.
Groups will initially converge on parts of S. B. Cabahug st., from the City Health Office up to the corner of F. Cabahug st.
They will then start their street dances starting from A. Del Rosario st., at City Hall, turn left to C.D. Seno st. until they reach Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), where the grand performance will be held.
These streets will be closed to traffic, vehicles and public utility jeeps plying Cebu City-Ibabao and Cebu City-Ouano routes will be rerouted.
PUJs from Cebu City going to Ibabao will still take the M.C. Briones Highway. Then they will turn right to A. C. Cortes ave., left to S.B. Cabahug and head for the area near the cockpit. PUJs will take the same route in going back to Cebu City.
Passenger vehicles heading for Ouano wharf will still take M.C. Briones highway, then turn right to A.C. Cortes st., turn right to Padre Burgos st., and turn left to A. Mabini st., straight to Ouano wharf.
From Ouano wharf, PUJs going to Cebu City have two options: from A. Mabini st. PUJs can turn right to J. Briones st. and turn left to A. C. Cortes and back to their earlier route.
Their second option is to go from A. Mabini St., turn left to J.Briones St., then turn right to Don. Andres Soriano St. in the reclamation area.
A.S. Fortuna from M. C. Briones to CICC will be closed to traffic. (OCP)
