By just a nose, lechon dealer survives attack
A BUSINESSMAN who sells lechon or roasted pig survived an attempt to kill him in front of his establishment along Archbishop Reyes Ave. in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Leonardo Ramin, 57, co-owner of Helen’s Lechon, was taken to the out-patient department of the Cebu City Medical Center after a slug grazed the tip of his nose during the attack at 10 a.m. yesterday.
SPO2 Rey Cuyos, team leader of the investigators who responded the alarm, said one of the angles they are looking into is that the shooting may be related to an incident last Dec. 31.
Leonardo’s son Junard was linked to the fatal shooting of Arrol M. Adulfo, 40, proprietor of the nearby Methus Lechon, on that day. Adulfo died of a gunshot wound in the nape.
Junard was arrested.
Cuyos, however, said his team is still investigating the attack.
According to the information gathered by Cuyos’ team, Leonardo was standing along the road waiting for a lechon that was scheduled for delivery when he heard a motorcycle stop near him.
When Leonardo turned to see who was on the motorcycle, a gunshot rang out.
The slug grazed Leonardo’s nose.
He scampered to safety before the gunman could fire again.
The gunman, who reportedly did not get off from the red motorcycle that an accomplice drove, sped away.
PO3 Geoffrey Gutual, Cuyos’ teammate, said they did not find any slug or empty shell that would help them determine what sort of gun was used.
Gutual said both the gunman and the driver wore helmets. (JST)
