Night out at dance ends in shooting

THREE men who were going home after attending a dance at a barangay in Liloan were shot at by a man aboard a motorcycle.

Benjie Capangpangan, 23, Rogelio Capangpangan, 18, and Philip Precillas Tolo, survived the shooting.

The three were about to board a motorcycle to go home after a night of dancing in Sitio Kawasan, Barangay San Roque past 5 a.m. yesterday.

Suddenly, a man appeared and shot them several times.

Benjie was hit in both thighs and left buttock while Rogelio in his left thigh. Tolo, for his part, was wounded in the left thigh and left arm.

All three were taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Responding police officers tried looking for the gunman, who was seen running toward the upland Barangay Tabla. However, he was not found.
Police recovered five empty shells fired from a .45 pistol.

In Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion, a security guard shot a 17-year-old boy who allegedly broke into the farm he was tasked to secure.

Junmar Tejares Jurado, 23, surrendered his 12-gauge shotgun to responding policemen and admitted to shooting Maning (real name withheld), 17, at 11 p.m. Friday.
The boy survived and is now confined at a private hospital in Cebu City.

Jurado told police that he noticed a group of armed persons entering the back of LA Farm and when he called their attention, Maning allegedly used a shotgun and fired at him.

Maning reportedly missed, prompting Jurado to fire back.

Recovered from Maning was a 12-gauge shotgun with three live bullets and one empty shell. Jurado was detained at the Consolacion Police Station. (MEA)
