Monday, August 11, 2008 Tanod claims 2 minors shot him during disco
A BARANGAY tanod accused two minors of attempted homicide after the two allegedly shot him during a commotion at a benefit dance.
Brgy. Dumlog, Talisay City tanod Saturnino Enjambre said the two boys were 18-years-old, but the criminal information approved by Talisay City prosecutor Marshall Rubia showed they were only 17.
According to Enjam-bre, he was on duty at a benefit dance in Sitio Litmon at 2:45 a.m. last Aug. 3 when he noticed a commotion outside the disco area.
With tanods Ruben Raya and Adonis Obenario, he went to check what the commotion was all about and saw the two minors, along with two unidentified persons, running away.
The three tanods reportedly gave chase and cornered the suspects. One of them allegedly fired a .38 caliber revolver several times and hit Enjambre on his right leg.
Enjambre was brought to the Talisay District Hospital while officers from the Talisay Police Station continued the pursuit.
Alarm
PO3 Arnold Damasco and PO2 Epifanio Come-dido said in a joint affidavit that at dawn on Aug. 3, they received a call from a certain Rudy Abay in Talisay City regarding a shooting alarm.
Abay reported that the suspects were hiding at his house because a mob had formed and was hunting them down for shooting a barangay tanod.
Minors
The two police officers then went to Abay’s house, where they found the two minors and a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunitions inside its revolving chamber.
The two boys were then brought to the Talisay City Police Station for questioning.
Rubia approved the filing of a criminal charge of attempted homicide against the two boys and the two still unidentified suspects last Aug. 5. Bail is P10,000 for each suspect. (KAB)
