Tuesday, August 12, 2008 Siso eyes more Asian points in ATF U14 toda
AFTER resting from competitive tennis for almost three months, Sally Mae Siso will once more hit the battle field when she takes part in the Asian Tennis Federation Under 14 Series today at the Subic Bay International Tennis Center.
Siso, who is being supported by University of San Carlos, Dunlop and San Carlos Seminary Tennis Club, will try to shake off her idle mode and put on her game face when tackles her toughest competitors in this age group, including nemesis Shanine Olivarez, and those from other Asian countries.
The competition has attracted netters from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Korea, India and Indonesia.
The seeding in the competition will be based on the players’ points in the ATF.
In Asia, Siso is currently ranked 34th among the girls 14 year old netters. She is seeded second in the competition with India’s Teertha Iska taking the first seeding. Olivarez, meanwhile, is No. 4 in the tournament.
The young netter, who is seriously embarking on a possible stint in the international scene, may have been inactive since school started, but she had prepared hard in the past four weeks with coaches Bobby Soquiño and Christopher Miñoza for today.
Over the summer, Cebu’s tennis princess collected 13 titles from different parts of Asia and the Philippines. (MCB)
