Old couple’s son tagged in hacking, robbing parents

AN investigation on the hacking and robbing of a couple in a mountain village of Bogo City led to the arrest of their son.

Last week, Rodolfo and Adelaida Frias, 83, were hacked in their sleep while their 10-year-old grandson managed to escape from their house in Sitio Mojon, Barangay Utlang, Bogo City.

PO3 Allan Dosdos of the Bogo City Police Station said that after Rodolfo and Adelaida were laid to rest, their relatives proceeded to the police to provide information.

They reportedly pointed to one of the couple’s sons, Florencio Frias, as the one behind the killing.

Though there were no witnesses to the crime, a baseball cap that was left at the crime scene was identified by three persons as belonging to Florencio.

The couple’s children also claimed that the cap did not belong to Rodolfo or Adelaida.

Initially, police had looked into robbery as the motive for the killing, as the P20,000 cash that they earned from the sale of livestock and some pieces of jewelry were missing from their house.

Dosdos said Rodolfo and Adelaida had two sons and a daughter, one of whom is their suspect Florencio, 45.

A tricycle driver claimed that on the same day the couple was killed, he saw Florencio wearing the same cap that police recovered from the couple’s house.

Florencio’s siblings and other relatives also reportedly pointed to him as the suspect.

Dosdos said a witness also claimed that Flo–rencio bared ill feelings toward his parents.

He reportedly had an argument with his father four days before the killing. Florencio even reportedly punched his father, although Dosdos could not say what they argued about.

Florencio has no children but reportedly felt jealous over the attention his brother and sister got from his parents.

There were reports that he was also jealous of the way they treated Roger, his sister’s son.

But as of yesterday, Florencio denied he was behind the killing. (MEA)
