Thursday, August 21, 2008 Capitol gets P700M for projects
THE Cebu Provincial Board (PB) yesterday approved the first supplemental budget worth more than P700 million for Capitol’s various expenditures.
The amount has been allocated for the operations of the South Bus terminal (P4.85 million), operations of 19 district hospitals (P14.50 million), development fund (P528.65 million) and proper fund (P208.97 million).
Under the proper fund, the Office of the Governor got the biggest chunk with over P90 million, followed by the PB with at least P40 million.
As for the development fund, P50 million has been allocated for the Province’s site development and housing program, P5 million for the water supply development program, and P473.65 million for water and bridge construction and rehabilitation.
The supplemental budget also includes the P20-million allocation representing the 10-percent salary hike adjustment and bonuses of Capitol workers.
PB Member Wenceslao Gakit, appropriations committee chairman, said the supplemental budget will be taken from the general fund.
The PB held a special session yesterday to approve the budget.
“The Province of Cebu has necessary expenditures for the operation of the Provincial Government not included in the annual budget for fiscal year 2008,” said Gakit.
Capitol’s annual budget for 2008 was pegged at P2.2 billion. (GMD)
