Prov’l police chief orders Aloguinsan cop relieved

A POLICE officer, who has been found positive for using illegal drugs, was relieved from his post in Aloguinsan, Cebu and reassigned to the provincial headquarters starting yesterday.

Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Carmelo Valmoria said he ordered PO1 Dave Agcol relieved from the Aloguinsan Police Station. He is now assigned with the Provincial Security and Service Group (PSSG).

The order was made after the CPPO wrapped up its pre-charge investigation on Agcol who tested positive of using shabu in a test conducted last month.

The initial result of the drug test conducted by the PNP Crime Laboratory 7 was submitted to a confirmatory test.

Proceedings

The confirmatory test showed that Agcol was positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride.

Valmoria said Agcol has been recommended to face summary dismissal proceedings for grave misconduct. The recommendation has been endorsed to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.

A separate criminal complaint of violation of Section 15 of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165) will also be filed against Agcol.

“He has no moral ascendancy to perform the duties and responsibilities as a police officer,” Valmoria said, adding this will serve as a warning to a few policemen who are also into illegal drugs. (JST)
