Thursday, August 21, 2008 USC Warriors dump Greywolves, 73-64
THE University of San Carlos Warriors successfully fended off the Don Bosco Greywolves, 73-64, in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc basketball tournament, yesterday, at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Warriors were led by the balance scoring of Giovanni Padillo, who scored 11 points, Sam Hermosa and Joven Cortes who contributed with 10 points apiece.
Rickmar Perubos was the top scorer for the Greywolves with16 points.
USC led the whole time and ended the third quarter comfortable up by 24 points outscoring DBC 27- 15.
The Greywolves started the fourth quarter with a 15-6 scoring run in the first five minutes after their defense forced the Warriors to commit turnover to narrow the gap at 67-52.
DBC continued to shave USC’s lead with Perturbos’ offense, scoring 11 of his 16 points in the last quarter—with nine from the 3-point area— but their 4th quarter run wasn’t enough to catch USC’s commanding lead.
The Don Bosco Greywolves dropped to 1-4, while the USC Warriors, who defeated the University of the Visayas in their first game, improved to 3-2. (EKA)
