Cab driver robbed in Peace Valley

A TAXI driver lost P1,700 in earnings after three men who flagged him down in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City robbed him Saturday dawn.

Richard Terado, 30, of Sitio Lawis Alaska, Barangay Mambaling, told Fuente police that three men asked to be brought to Peace Valley Subdivision in nearby Barangay Lahug around 3 a.m.

When they reached the place, which is a secluded area, one man pointed a gun at his head and declared a holdup.

Terado said the men fled after taking the cash.

They also took the car key, apparently to delay him in calling for assistance, so that he was forced to seek help from a nearby house.

The residents were the ones who alerted the police.

The three robbers escaped, but not three others who allegedly victimized a female jeepney passenger on her way to Barangay Labangon.

SPO3 Oscar Perez of San Nicolas Police Station arrested Joel Lim Alutay, 21; John Villegas, 26; and a 17-year-old minor for allegedly robbing Royden Solivio.

Solivio boarded a Labangon-bound jeepney on P. del Rosario St. when the suspects also got on the same vehicle.

Armed with knives, the three declared a holdup when they reached the corner of Leon Kilat and Borromeo Sts. and took her cellular phone worth P10,000.

After Solivio reported the incident, Perez made a follow up operation and arrested Alutay, Villegas, and the minor, who will be criminally charged for robbery. (JST)
