City police supports Muslims as tanods

CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) Director Patrocinio Comendador supports the move of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 in training members of the Muslim community to help maintain peace and order.

Comendador said it is a welcome development for the Muslim community in Cebu City to have a representation in the barangay as tanods.

Supt. Abdalun Awilun, head of the Salam Police Center of the PRO 7, earlier said 56 Muslims will attend a seminar on crime prevention as part of their trainings to
become barangay tanods.

They will be taught about crime prevention, intelligence gathering and reporting crimes. They will also be taught how to respond to crime alarms and detect criminals.

Awilun and PRO 7 Director Ronald Roderos met with Muslim leaders and representatives from the Office of Muslim Affairs (OMA) 7 to renew their commitment to help each other to maintain peace and order in Cebu.

Roderos said members of the Muslim community also take part in the campaign against criminality by becoming members of the Barangay Intelligence Network. (JST)
