P200T lost as fire hits motel

MORE than P200,000 in property went up in smoke when fire broke out inside the stockroom of Queensland Motel 5, formerly Q5 Motel, on General Maxilom Ave., Barangay Carreta, Cebu City last Monday night.

Although, the fire was confined to the stockroom, which also served as office of owner Leah Adarna, firefighters had to make a hole in the concrete wall so that the heavy black smoke could come out.

The stockroom is located at the basement of the motel. No other rooms of the motel were damaged by the fire.

A report over radio dyLA said motel clients were asked to go out of the motel immediately after the fire broke out.

The Bureau of Fire Protection in Cebu City received the call for assistance at 6:18 p.m., Monday. It was tapped at second alarm.

The firefighting and overhauling, however, lasted until 5 a.m. yesterday to ensure that the fire would no longer rekindle.

No one was reported hurt in the incident. (JST)
