Over 1T soldiers in Negros to leave for Mindanao

AT least 1,400 members from the 15th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in Negros Oriental will be sent today to Mindanao to serve as additional augmentation force with the ongoing fight of the military against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Lt. Col. Bienvenido Datuin, operations division chief of the Central Command (Centcom), told reporters that the troops will join the other battalions earlier sent to Lanao del
Norte.

A company from the 43rd IB in Bohol was deployed by Centcom commander, Lt. Gen. Pedro Ike Inserto.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office 7 Ronald Roderos during yesterday’s Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis (Tsip) forum said that the 100 Regional Mobile Group (RMG) 7 will remain in South Cotabato until the situation in Mindanao will neutralize.

He reiterated his assurance to the families of the 100 RMG 7 not to worry because they are performing normal police duties there.

Roderos said spillage on the conflict in Mindanao in Cebu is remote because Mindanao and Cebu or Visayas are separated by seas.

But Roderos said the police in Cebu as well as the Centcom are not letting their guard down.

Both the police and Centcom have declared a red alert status when the military and the MILF fight broke out. (JST)
